What is Urodynamic Testing?

What is Urodynamic testing?

Urodynamics is a test to measure the pressures and bladder capacity.  It is useful in helping physicians formulate a treatment plan for your specific problem.  This test takes 30 minutes to 1 hour to perform

Will I be uncomfortable?

The testing is not usually painful. As your bladder is filling you may feel the sensation to urinate.  Some patients experience mild burning after the test. This should  go away within 24 hours. A normal life style may be resumed after the testing.

You may experience some slight discomfort although the testing should not be considered painful.

What do I need to do to prepare for the test?

  • PLEASE ARRIVE AT THE OFFICE WITH A FULL BLADDER.
  • If you have your menses please notify our office at 508-222-1105 to reschedule your appointment.

After the procedure what do I need to do?

A normal lifestyle may be resumed after the testing.

Please call if you any of the following occurs:

  • A temperature greater than 101
  • If you are unable to urinate
  • If you are having discomfort for more than 1 day

Please call 508-222-3200 for any questions or concerns.
